The Silk scarf by Ahmend Essop


SETTING:

Date and Time: Last days of Apartheid
Place: Oriental Plaza , Johannesburg in South Africa.

PLOT:

The story started when Mrs  Nebo went to a shopping mall. She went with her friend.
They were in a Mercedes Benz. They were  all driven by chauffeurs.
They were wearing expensive clothes showing that their husbands are rich.
When were strolling around the shops Mrs. Nebo was a lovely , Indian dress.
She decided to buy it. She again looked for  silk scarf that is matching the dress she bought .
She found it and decided to pay for it.
She scarf costs 100 rands , and she does not have enough money.
 In that shop , they do not accept cheque or credit payment  ONLY CASH.
She only have a cheque .
 Finally the shop owner , paid for Mrs . Nebo 's scarf and hand it to her , she
 was very proud of the Indian man.

  • She is privileged( through her husband's position).
  • She was arrogant.

  • He is an Indian businessman.
  • He was wealthier.

  • He has values.
